Partnering with parents

We believe that education thrives when there is a strong partnership between school and home. We actively involve parents in the educational journey of their child, ensuring they are engaged, informed, and empowered to support their development. While our project-based learning model draws heavily on industry experts from our local community in Lagos to serve as subject matter experts, we also invite parents to participate in selected projects. We recognise the diverse expertise within our parent community, and when appropriate, we offer parents the opportunity to contribute their unique skills and perspectives to enhance specific learning experiences.

To ensure our parents remain fully informed and engaged, we provide several key touch points throughout the term. Firstly, parents receive daily updates on the projects and activities their children are involved in, offering a clear picture of how learning unfolds day by day. Secondly, we meet with parents weekly via video call and in-person at the end of each term, allowing for more in-depth discussions about their child’s progress, challenges, and achievements.
We also invite parents to attend our project presentations at the end of each term. These presentations offer a chance for parents to see the work their children have been immersed in, as well as giving them the opportunity to ask questions, offer feedback, and celebrate the accomplishments of their children as they showcase the skills they’ve developed in critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving - essential elements of 21st-century learning.

At KEY academy, partnering with parents means creating an open, communicative relationship where families are closely involved in their child’s learning journey. Through regular updates, meetings, and opportunities for involvement, we ensure our parents are always in tune with what and how their children are learning, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment both at school and at home.
